Holiday Gift Guide Series: Want to Branch Out into the Diaspora?

Want to branch out into the Diaspora? FEATURING: Lucy by Jamaica Kincaid Breath, Eyes, Memory by Edwidge Danticat Black stories are not just limited to those that happen in the U.S. Broadening our scope allows for further exploration into the human experience. Many will find common themes that connect us. In these two books, which I really enjoyed, we got to experience the lives of two women, who were navigating their transitions into adulthood and how they related to the world around them. There were intersectional struggles but these stories also examined family dynamics, subsequent trauma and how they can influence our outlook. I could relate to all of this, which I why I recommend reading books outside of our personal spheres, because finding connections unifies us.
